This one´s for YOU mom!

Helaman wrote that his Stripling Warriors
¨...were exceedingly valiant for courage...but behold, this was not all--they were..true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted.  Yea...they had been taught to keep the commandments of God and to walk uprightly before him¨
Alma 53:20-21

When facing their first battle, they assured Helaman that all would be well.
¨They did not fear death...yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.  And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying:  We do not doubt our mothers KNEW it.¨
Alma 56: 47-48

Our Mission Leadership Council is full of leaders that have been taught by their mothers!
They are just a sample of the MANY missionaries we have who continue on each day because of the faith and support of loving mothers.

May is Month of Mom...be tuned for more tributes to our wonderful Missionary Moms
but for now...
This one´s for YOU mom!

rest for the weary...

After 2 years 10 months and 3 days
We took a preparation day...
(okay a little be of an exageration, but not much!)

For my Mother´s Day outing we headed to
The Sugar Cane Museum
(a sweet place to spend a day together!)

This was our guide.
He explained the various antique sugar can presses...it was a test of my spanish vocabulary!

it was a beautiful garden...look at the size of these leaves!

and of course we took missionary calls while wandering around!

Look at the roots of this tree....and the one on the right grew up in the middle of this wheelbarrow!
It was more of a beautiful garden than a museum.
The weather was beautiful.
The company was good.

And we made it home in time to have an activity with
our missionaries and their investigators

What a sweet way to end a wonderful day!

¨Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden
and I shall give thee rest¨
Matt. 11:28

True rest for the weary comes in the service of others!
We are ready for another week!

The best of times...

Some of the best times
occur in the setting apart of missionaries.
You feel the anxiety of the parents...letting go.
You sense the excitement of the new missionary...waiting to go.
You feel heaven near and this promise waiting to be fulfilled:
¨And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face.
I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts,
and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.¨
DC 84:88
Hermana Cantor is off to serve in Mexico.
She served a mini-mission with us in the Cali Mission.
She is well prepared and ready to serve.
Surrounded by Cali Missionaries...several of which were instrumental
in bringing her back into activity in the church and helping her prepare for this day!

Elder Rincon has the fame of being the first missionary
from the Pradera branch in our Palmira district.
He is off to Honduras!
Ready and Eager to head out to the mission field.
From his parents arms into the arms of the missionaries!

Another best time is attending baptisms...
...there are no shortage of those in our mission!

We started Sunday morning off at an early morning baptism.
We first visited with this family in their home with the missionaries over a year ago!
What a BEST to be able to watch them be baptized together.

And nothing can BEST being with members and missionaries on a Sunday morning!
Here we are with a sister who will leave in a week for her mission,
an Elder who started a mini mission this week,
an investigator, members, and 2 missionaries.
THE BEST of TIMES!
